Winter has always been more than a season to me. It is a reminder of the cold days when hope was the only thing that kept me warm. As snow covered the streets in white, I imagined it washing away fear and making room for new beginnings. Every snowflake reminded me that even in the harshest seasons, something beautiful can survive.
I made a promise to myself that winter: no matter how difficult life became, I would never stop chasing my dreams.
My story began long before I understood what dreams truly meant. At the age of six, while many children spent their days playing, I learned to weave carpets. My small hands carefully tied thousands of knots, one after another. Every thread carried not only the weight of hard work but also the hope that one day I could continue my education, support my family, and build a different future.
As the years passed, life became even harder. I worked both inside and outside my home. There were days when exhaustion made me feel as if I could not take another step. Yet every morning I reminded myself that giving up would never change my life. If doors did not open for me, I would build my own.
Carpet weaving was never just a job. It became the language of my dreams. Every knot I tied whispered the same message: Keep going. Don't stop.
Life is never a straight road. Sometimes it lifts you to the highest mountain, and sometimes it leaves you in the deepest valley. I experienced both. There were moments of joy, but there were also moments when I questioned whether all my efforts were worth it. Still, I learned that every season passes, and every hardship carries a lesson.
School became the turning point of my life. It opened my eyes to a world beyond poverty and struggle. It taught me that education is not simply about books; it is about discovering my own strength. Most importantly, it showed me that no one succeeds completely alone. Sometimes, all it takes is one person who believes in you.
I will never forget March 21, 2021.
It was the first time I had ever failed an exam.
I felt as though the world had collapsed around me. I kept asking myself, How can I face my family? They had sacrificed so much for my education, and I believed I had disappointed them. The pain became even greater when some of my classmates laughed at me. Their laughter echoed in my mind, making me feel small, ashamed, and completely alone.
Then my teacher quietly walked toward me. She looked into my eyes and said,"This failure is not your ending. It can become your new beginning. The choice is yours. I believe in you. One day, you will surprise yourself with what you achieve. Ignore the voices that try to break you, and let this failure become the greatest lesson of your life."
Those words changed everything.
For the first time, I realized that failure is not the opposite of success—it is often the first step toward it. My teacher gave me something far more valuable than encouragement. She gave me belief in myself when I had lost it completely.
Today, I still carry the memories of every hardship. I remember being forced to leave my classroom because I could not afford the fees. I remember standing in front of my classmates while they laughed at my poverty. I remember returning home with tears in my eyes, wondering if my dreams were simply too expensive for someone like me.
But I also remember standing back up.
I have been weaving carpets since I was six years old. Today, at seventeen, I have woven far more than carpets. I have woven resilience, courage, patience, and hope into my life. Every challenge became another thread that made me stronger instead of weaker.
My dream is no longer only to change my own life.
I dream of becoming a successful business leader who creates opportunities for others, especially girls who have been told that their dreams are impossible. I want to build businesses that provide jobs, support families, and remind young people that their circumstances do not define their future.
The threads of the carpets I weave may one day wear out with time.
But the dreams woven into my heart never will.
As long as I continue believing in myself, no hardship will ever be stronger than the future I am determined to create.
This is my story, but it is also the story of many girls whose dreams are tested by poverty, hardship, and inequality. I hope my journey reminds them that resilience can transform pain into purpose, and that every small step forward brings us closer to a brighter future. Dreams may begin as fragile threads, but with courage, faith, and perseverance, they can be woven into a life filled with hope.
